Meet Hannah Landes

I am a PhD candidate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. My dissertation is in narratological studies, focusing on the concept "disnarration" - hypothetical events that a fictional text alludes to but does not concretize. I draw on examples ranging from Victorian literature (David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, Shirley by Charlotte Bronte, North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell) to modern literature (The Shadow-Line and The Secret Sharer by Joseph Conrad, and The Periodic Tale by Primo Levi). My awards include the Gross Doctoral Fellowship in Literary Studies and an international fellowship at the University of Maryland (2015/16).
